Recently I realized that a lot of the media that contains hot women just… aren’t hot to me. It dawned on me that the reason why was because the women were being filtered through the male gaze- a lens that treats us merely as objects of consumption.
A lot of the things I actually find attractive about women: our strength, our power, the depth and diversity of our personalities, aren’t a consideration to the powers that be. If it doesn’t center a man in some way, it’s not considered valuable and I’m SICK OF IT!
Well, I guess I’m going to have to create the art I want to see in the world…
In my works, women and the stuff I ACTUALLY find attractive are centered. We’re not crying things to be protected and stored away. Our flaws and quirks aren’t merely tolerated, but embraced as proof that we’re real and human and worthy of being loved.
We’re horny and sad and pathetic sometimes. Sometimes we look at a woman and all we can think is “…Oooough girls….”
My work won’t resonate with everyone, but if this sounds like your jam, pull up a chair and stick around for a while. We’re glad to have you!
